AI-based Dialogue Modelling for Social Robots

Kristiina Jokinen

The paper seeks to address various issues related to situated interaction between a robot agent and a human user. The focus is on dialogue modelling and implementation of a speech-based multimodal dialogue management model in an interactive intelligent robot agent, with the aim to enable the agent to conduct natural type of interaction. Several topics related to the type and representation of knowledge and the robot’s focus of attention to select appropriate knowledge as the focal point of the dialogue are discussed, taking into account the robot’s dual characteristics as a powerful computer and an interactive agent.
