As automatic speech recognition (ASR) moves from the laboratory to the marketplace, a new set of challenges emerge. These difficulties relate to the human interface, environmental factors, and adaptation of recognition technology to specific services. Such issues have prompted new research, resulting in algorithms with word spotting, early decision, and other capabilities. With recent applications such as the AT&T Intelligent Network (IN) in Spain, ASR technology has seen significant improvements in response to field issues.
