My contribution to the Intonation Workshop is an overview of research on intonation and modelling of intonation conducted at Lund. Four main areas ate covered: dialect, focus, phrasing, and dialogue. In our modelling of dialect variation in Swedish accentuation, the timing of pitch accents (H and L turning points) as well as the pitch realization of focus represent important criteria. The phonology and phonetics of focus, in Scandinavian languages are treated in outline. Our modelling of prosodic phrasing and its relation to accentuation is discussed. Finally our current project work on modelling intonation in spontaneous speech and dialogue is presented.
