LGBTQI*

The LGBTQI* (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer and Intersexual) group in ISCA aims at increasing the diversity of people in ISCA, and at the same time has a common interest in topics related to Gender and Speech. It organised LGBTQI* events at Interspeech conferences since 2020, attracting an increasingly large and diverse community.

During the Interspeech 2023 meeting, discussions arose around scientific topics related to Gender in Speech, such as (non-complete list)

• Artificial voice transformation
• Voice transformation for gender transitions
• Voice and speech pathologies
• Gender in expressive speech
• Collection of speech data with a focus on gender
• Privacy issues
• Impact of gender on speech quality and speech perception

In addition, there was some discussion about how to improve inclusion of all genders into our community, and to Interspeech.

A mailing list related to LGBTQI* topics has been installed. The email address to send messages to this list is LGBTQI_AT_isca-speech.org. In discussions over the mailing list, activities are discussed to better address the topic in the near future, such as

• Special session at next Interspeech
• Installation of a more stable committee or SIG related to LGBTQI* topics
• Social event (in addition to the current LGBTQI* meeting) at the next Interspeech
• Others
